ONE PER DAY PLEDGE

ONE PER DAY PLEDGE.

Don't make them jump through any more hoops, sign your name in the comments to pledge to tell at least one person per day why they should be in the ocean.

As we have seen on social media there are now many many groups supporting dolphin, killer whale, beluga and all cetaceans freedom.

There is no place for this in the 21st century. We live in the era of TV, satellite, internet, video's, high speed travel, freedom of information, science, we can communicate with people on the other side of the world with the click of a button,  and we have the ability to learn about everything on the planet without ever seeing it in the flesh.

The aquarium and dolphinarium industry would have you believe that people need to see these creatures in their tanks, to educate, raise awareness and inspire people to protect those in the wild. This statement is the most false there can be.
For example
I have never seen a skunk in the flesh, yet I know it is black and white and if it felt threatened by me, I would likely be sprayed with the most foul smelling stuff there is. How do I know that?  I have seen documentaries about skunks.

I have never seen a blue whale in the flesh, but I know they are the largest mammal on the planet, I know they tend to swim alone or occasionally in pairs. I know they eat krill and I know they live for up to 80 years. How do I know that? Scientists have researched them and their research is widely available on the internet.

Lastly there hasn't been a dolphinarium in the UK since the 90's people campaigned so much they were all closed. How come then people from the UK fight for orca freedom, protest dolphin captivity, protest dolphin and whale slaughters? Why would they do that if they haven't got a dolphin in a tank to look at? They have looked them up, found out all they can, seen them in the wild and know that captivity is wrong.

There are still many thousands of people across the globe who do go to dolphinariums, do swim with dolphins programmes, do go to dolphin therapy and the reason is they just don't know enough about these animals to know it is wrong.

The One Per Day pledge is a pledge for all to tell at least one person per day about why captivity is wrong, why they shouldn't go and what their ticket money funds. There are many you tube videos available that people can share to get their message across, some of them are below.

What happens in Taiji - if there is no market for these dolphins there will be no drive hunt.

Kasatka with very experienced senior trainer Ken Peters, Seaworld say their orcas are desensitized to people in the water, the trainers are trained to recognize and react to pre cursors of an attack, they lost the appeal to put trainers back in the water as the court recognized what these creatures are, the ocean top predator. Kasatka could have drowned Ken at any point. Despite his years of training the precursor wasn't recognized here. Its about time people recognized these creatures for what they are, they are not pets, they are the oceans top predators and should be respected and treated as such. For those who say so why didn't she kill him, my theory is, they are intelligent animals and if they kill the trainers they cut off the food source.

Despite what the writing on the video says, this is Kyuquot attacking Steve Aibel. Sea World Texas, USA  Kyuquot 12-year-old male Kyuquot repeatedly slammed trainer Steve Aibel underwater during a show. Aibel, who was uninjured, had trained Kyuquot for 10 years. Kyuquot refused a rocket hop during a show, then repeated it well. However, Kyuquot then refused to allow the trainer to exit the pool. He then proceeded to swim over the trainer, blocking any exit from the pool for two to three minutes

From the first captive Seaworld knew these orcas would eventually kill someone. This video isn't a trainer, Annette Eckis was a secretary asked to ride Shamu in a bikini for a promotional video. She sued Seaworld.

There have been numerous incidents well before Blackfish was made see here

As for Blackfish and those who say its all lies etc there is a whole section on my blog with links to outside information to help with that  check it out here

All these parks buy from Taiji
The people who frequent these parks need to know where their entertainment has come from.

Dolphin Assisted Therapy

This is a complete scam, and preys upon desperate parents looking for help for their children. see the evidence here

Swim with dolphins

Swimming with dolphins is on many people's buckets list, but its definitely not on the dolphin's list. See why here

TAKE THE ONE PER DAY PLEDGE.

PLEDGE NEVER TO GO TO A DOLPHINARIUM, SWIM WITH DOLPHIN PROGRAMME OR DOLPHIN ASSISTED THERAPY OR TO ANY FACILITY HOLDING CAPTIVE MARINE MAMMALS FOR ENTERTAINMENT.

PLEDGE TO TELL AT LEAST ONE PERSON PER DAY, IN PERSON, ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, EMAIL ETC WHY THESE CREATURES DO NOT BELONG IN CAPTIVITY.

Simon Cowell made a very relevant point today after agreeing not to air the X Factor contestants swimming with dolphins

He is right, people aren't aware of the growing concerns regarding dolphins and they should be. One per day is all it needs.
