Does SeaWorld Separate Orca Mothers from their Calves? Yes they do !!!

For SeaWorld to say they do not separate Orca mothers from their offspring is just untrue.

There are numerous pages of information showing the structures and behaviors of orca families in the wild. Their families stay together for life. If you wish to read up on the wild orca pods here is the Wikipedia link, which also has references to other sources, should you need them.

SeaWorld video saying they don't separate orca calves from their mothers

All the killer whales below have been separated from their mothers. The evidence is there and speaks for itself. You cannot tell untruths about things that can be researched in seconds.

CAPTIVE BORN (still alive):

M - Ikaika  - separated from his mother Katina at 4 years, 2 months:
Young male Ikaika has a history of aggression, often of a sexual nature, which began with an attempt to breed a young calf at SeaWorld shortly before his transfer to Canada. Sea World veterinarians then sedated Ikaika twice daily with Valium to “try to mellow him out.

F - Kayla - separated from her mother Keanu at 2 years, 5 months
Kayla gave birth to her first calf on October 9, 2005, a female named Halyn. As soon as she was born Kayla was very aggressive with her but swam away to the back pool allowing the gate to close between them. She is also aggressive with trainers.

M - Keet-  separated from his mother Kalina at 1 year, 8 months
Keet is very bullied he has had to have laser treatment to cauterize bits of flesh bitten off by other orca. The back of his fluke is a mess.

M - Keto- separated from his mother Kalina at 3 years, 9 months
Keto has been in all 4 SeaWorld parks now at Loro Parque with the 'excess' orca, not being able to make connections at all, he has killed his trainer. The autopsy report on Martínez was telling and states bluntly that his was a “violent death.” It describes multiple cuts and bruises, the collapse of both lungs, fractures of the ribs and sternum, a lacerated liver, severely damaged vital organs, and puncture marks “consistent with the teeth of an orca.” It concludes that the immediate cause of death was fluid in the lungs (i.e., drowning) but that the fundamental cause was “mechanical asphyxiation due to compression and crushing of the thoracic abdomen with injuries to the vital organs.” In other words, at some point Keto slammed into Martínez with such force that he caved in his chest.

F - Kohana- LP -separated from her mother Takara at 3 years, 9 months
Kohana has been bred with her uncle producing inbred Adan and Victoria. She wanted nothing to do with either calf. Victoria died at 10 months old and is having to be kept separate from the others with Morgan as he is not accepted by the other orca.

F - Shouka- SF -separated from her mother Sharkan at 9 years
Shouka was sent from Marineland Antibes to spend 10 years alone. She has now moved to SeaWorld.

F - Skyla- LP -separated from her mother Kalina at 2 years old
Skyla grew up doing whatever she wanted due to the lack of a maternal figure. She often shows her dominance towards the other orcas. She has also been involved in incidents with trainers and was stopped from performing waterworks.

F - Takara- SW -separated from her mother Kasatka at 12 years, 8 months
Takara hasn't really been allowed to be a mother as she has been separated from her calves, Kohana at 3, Trua at 3, and Sakari who she is still with, rumor is she is pregnant again.

M - Tekoa- LP -separated from his mother Taima at 3 years, 4 months

Tekoa is in a terrible state in Loro Parque, raked and so thin he shows his ribs.

M - Trua- SW -separated from his mother Takara when he was 3 years, 2 months
Trua is a male orca born at SeaWorld Orlando on November 23, 2005. His parents are Takara and Taku.

F - Unna- SW -separated from her mother Katina at 6 years
Unna had a stillborn calf and has been on medication since. She shows aggression to other tank mates and trainers especially after separation as in going in the med pool.

M - Adan- LP Separated from Kohana at birth
Adan was inbred with her uncle as there were no breeding orca at Loro Park. SeaWorld sent over 4 young orca on a breeding loan with no one to breed with other than each other

F - Orkid - SW separated from her mother Kandu V aged one year
Orkid was separated from her mother Kandu V when her mother attacked another orca Corky 2. Kandu V rammed Corky 2 so hard, Kandu V broke her jaw and bled to death in front of her daughter.

F - Malia - SW separated from her mother Taima aged 3 years
Malia was Taima's third calf. She was separated from her mother when Taima died during labor from yet another calf. Wild orca would have at least a 5 year gap between pregnancies.

F - Halyn- SW -separated from her mother Kayla immediately due to mother’s rejection
Haylyn was hand reared but passed away from Encephalitis this was also stated as the cause of death for Kanduke who died from west nile virus.

F - Kalina- SW -separated from  her mother Katina at 4 years, 4 months; reunited at 9 years
Kalina had her first calf at 7yrs 6 months, an extremely young age as the pregnancy is 18 months, Keet was taken at 1yr 8 months, she became pregnant straight after keets birth hence him being moved as Keto was born, he was sent to Loro Parque at 3yrs, she gave birth to Tuar 4 years later and then Skyla all of whom have issues including Keto being a killer.
